I don’t remember the last time I bought a one piece swimsuit or wore one to the beach. I wear one for swimmers when I go to the pool for swimming but that’s about it. That’s why I was excited to try this swimsuit by Papercut Patterns. It gave me a chance to make one that is more fashionable and not only intended for swimming rounds (although you could definitely wear it for that).

I am especially fond of the fabric which I bought for this pattern at the Fabric Fairy. Every time I look this fabric my head goes “Little fish. Big fish. Swimming in the water./ Come back here, man. gimme my daughter…” So the fabric has a ‘PJ Harvey effect’ at least on me 🙂 I made all the bra straps and bindings from white swimsuit fabric. You can also see that I inserted bra cups which give extra support. There are very few swimsuits or bikinis that I would wear without bra cups.

I had made the Bikini Variation 2 from the same pattern size XS and it was a bit too tight. So I made the swimsuit size S and it was a good fit, well almost…The sides of the back part where you insert the bra straps in X shape was too long and did not stretch enough. So the fabric made kind of a ‘little wave’ when I was standing and this gave a strange look. Thus, I had to open up the swimsuit at the waist and shortened the length of the sides in a curve. This way I got rid of the bump. Other than that, I did not change anything and I am quite happy with the end result.
