I wanted to sew a hoodie since the beginning of winter. Well, November and December which are supposed to be hard core winter months are not so cold in Tel Aviv but you still need a warm jacket especially after the sun goes down. I began to spend quite a bit of time in the beach since I began kitesurfing in the summer. It gets pretty chilly in the beach towards the afternoon during these months. I wanted to have a cozy and colorful sweatshirt/jacket which is sporty and comfortable but stylish at the same time.

I looked for sweatshirt fabric and learned that the fabric itself is called “footer” in this part of the world. It looks smooth on the outside and has kind of a soft cottony feeling on the inside. Although mostly used in sweatshirts and trainers, I love its different applications such as when it is used in jackets, dresses, pants or even bags.

In terms of shape and style, I saw several hoodies on the internet and Pinterest and was especially inspired by the one from Zalando because it looks more like a jacket than a sweatshirt.

I wanted to make something more colorful though. One problem I had was when I went to shop for footer fabric, I did not find a wide selection of colors. Actually there were only a few stores that actually sell this kind of fabric. So I picked light pink and dark blue for a combination. Maybe it is better to buy fabric on the internet for these kinds of things but I never tried it.

I already sew the front and the back here is how it looks. I think it is going well and I hope to finish it soon. Let’s see how it will turn out.

Here is how the pattern looks like. It was color coded because there are a zillion pieces.

An "adventurer" by spirit, I love everything that is handmade with a special focus on sewing and some knitting.
